Help in adding categories[edit]

Hello again. I'm requesting again your help in categorizing DRs by KazyKazyKazakhstan, by adding relevant categories based on the nominated works' countries: see here again. Due to busy college schedule now, I cannot categorize the DRs. Also, while that user categorizes some, those were categorized through HotCat and not manually, therefore lacking "noinclude" tags and collaterally categorizing the daily listing. Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 04:27, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@JWilz12345: Done. --A1Cafel (talk) 05:19, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello again A1Cafel. The user may had added categories for their nominations yesterday, but seems they did not do so for today. See their page creation contributions. May I request you (again) to add relevant categories. I may not do the manual adding of categories due to sudden college works. Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 13:15, 16 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@JWilz12345: Done. I was tired yesterday so I cannot finish it. --A1Cafel (talk) 03:11, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@A1Cafel hello again. Kindly help again in adding categories; QazyQazyQazaqstan failed to do categorizations again (like at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Halytskyi District, Lviv, Lviv Oblast, Ukraine - panoramio (15).jpg). I cannot do categorizations because of college examination week and that the user tends to do numerous nominations per day or session. Refer to here for contributions. Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 10:34, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@JWilz12345: Done. Note that QazyQazyQazaqstan was globally locked due to sockpuppetery. --A1Cafel (talk) 03:47, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Category:Photographs by Byron Nash[edit]

I don't think moving Category:Files by Byron Nash to Category:Photographs by Byron Nash was useful. About 15% of the files in the category are videos, not photographs. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:19, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I've moved the .webm back Andy Dingley (talk) 22:30, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@A1Cafel stop these undiscussed and useless category moves right now. RZuo (talk) 17:58, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I just simply want to harmonize the category name, as most of them use the name like this. --A1Cafel (talk) 02:21, 23 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Your files with no existing category (other that "hidden" categories)[edit]

Do you intend on creating this category? Category:Tony Blinken in November 2023. Thanks, -- Ooligan (talk) 20:09, 2 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

50 + files with NO categories from the United States Secretary of State's Flickr account.[edit]

More mass uploaded files with NO categories. More than 50 uncategorized files from September 29th.

Again, only a single "hidden" category, which prevents a BOT from tagging these photos as "uncategorized," where these files would otherwise be brought to the attention of other editors on this project.

These orphan files are all from the high profile United States Secretary of State's Flickr account.

Suggestion needed[edit]

Hi @A1Cafel as South Africa doesn't have FOP all the images in this category will be deleted. I have uploaded few images of the same museum. Shall I keep it or delete them? Jnanaranjan Sahu (ଜ୍ଞାନ) talk 18:56, 5 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Why do you think they would need to be deleted? It is simply not true that lack of FOP requires images to be deleted. Also, given the number of A1Cafel's uploads which still keep needing to be deleted for copyright reasons, they are not someone I would be seeking advice from over copyright. Andy Dingley (talk) 20:36, 5 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Jnanaranjan sahu: It depends, simply lack of FoP in South Africa is not always correct. For example, we need to know whether the copyright holder has been dead for 50 years (in South Africa only, different countries had different p.m.a.), the artwork is creative enough that exceed TOO, they are the subject of the photo (i.e. can get rid of copyright violation per de minimis), etc. --A1Cafel (talk) 03:11, 6 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi @Andy Dingley @A1Cafel Thank you for your inputs. I have uploaded many images years ago in 2018 and eventually photos are getting deleted and fear my account may be blcoked for that reason. I am worried and want to take approprate action on all my old photos. Considering the FOP issue in South Africa I have many images that falls under the same. Here are some images1, images2, images3, images4 etc. Please suggest me propper action. Thank You. Jnanaranjan Sahu (ଜ୍ଞାନ) talk 03:41, 6 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Jnanaranjan sahu: Some works in the museum may be copyrighted, but I'm not sure whether it is old enough to be in PD. To avoid any controversy, I choose not to nominate them for deletion. --A1Cafel (talk) 03:48, 6 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I appreciate the tip[edit]

Hello there @A1Cafel

You left a message about images and the automated Flickr Review system. I appreciate you pointing it out. Cheers! MatthewDalhousie (talk) 02:56, 11 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

And yes, I think I've figured out how to use the automated tools better now, thought I just tried to use that other bot you mentioned and it wasn't easy. I hope it's okay if I use the tool that's provided with the upload wizard page. That I can manage! MatthewDalhousie (talk) 03:24, 11 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@MatthewDalhousie: Sure, that's your own choice. Have a good day. --A1Cafel (talk) 03:49, 11 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Good evening! Could you work on categorizing the files I downloaded from the website of the President of Armenia? MasterRus21thCentury (talk) 15:25, 21 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm not familiar with politics of Armenia. I will take a look, but I afraid I cannot help much. --A1Cafel (talk) 15:34, 21 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
But from which post-Soviet sites can you identify personalities? For example, I had a large upload of materials from the website of the Russian Federation Council. MasterRus21thCentury (talk) 15:49, 21 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Not so familiar in Russian politics either. --A1Cafel (talk) 15:53, 21 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Question[edit]

Hey, you probably know about US licensing tags better than me. This image is in the public domain, isn’t it? RodRabelo7 (talk) 04:14, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I think it's fine to use PD-USGov license. --A1Cafel (talk) 07:11, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
