Deleted content[edit]
Hello Message templates,
the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:
The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here. Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.

Authorship claims[edit]You have claimed to be the author of: If you have uploaded a copyright violation and the copyright holder wishes to take legal action, you alone are legally responsible. The MediaWiki software keeps information about you which may be shared with lawyers.
Please help avoid unnecessary blocks and deletions by resolving this matter in one of the following ways:
If your account is blocked, you will be temporarily unable to upload files to Commons. In the meantime, please read the licensing policy to make sure the content you upload is allowed. The duration of the block may depend on the number of files to be verified and the findings of the investigation.

An unfree Flickr license has been found on File:Example.jpg
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons from Flickr, File:Example.jpg, has been reviewed by an administrator or reviewer and found available on Flickr under the license Noncommercial (), No derivative works (), or All Rights Reserved (), which isn't compatible with Wikimedia Commons, per the licensing policy. Unless the Flickr user changes the license to one that Wikimedia Commons accepts, the file will be speedily deleted. Commons:Flickr files/Appeal for license change has information about sending the Flickr user an appeal asking for the license to be changed. Only Flickr images tagged as (CC BY), (CC BY-SA), (CC0) and (PDM) are allowed on Wikimedia Commons. Once the license on Flickr is changed, you may replace the {{Unfree Flickr file}} tag with {{Flickrreview}} so that an administrator or reviewer can review the image again.

Please do not create attack pages[edit]
The page Example images you created is considered to be an attack page since it seems to exist for the sole or principal purpose of attacking or disparaging a user, organization, or other entity. Attack pages are considered a form of vandalism and are not allowed. Please read Commons:Project scope/Pages, galleries and categories. The page has been deleted, or has been marked for deletion and will soon be removed.
If you continue to create attack pages on Commons, you will be blocked. Thanks.

{{subst:attackimage|File:Example.jpg}} |
Please do not upload attack/vandalism images such as File:Example.jpg[edit]
An image you uploaded, File:Example.jpg does not fall within the scope of Wikimedia Commons because it appears to have been created or uploaded primarily for the purpose of insulting, demeaning, or defaming a person or thing, and is not realistically useful for an educational purpose. Please read Commons:Project scope#Must be realistically useful for an educational purpose. Please replace this image with a more useful one, or request that it be removed. If you continue to upload such content onto Commons, you will be blocked.

Help[edit]
{{subst:welcome}} |
Welcome to Wikimedia Commons, Message templates!
| ||||
{{subst:please register}} |
Please register[edit]
Hello! I've seen some of your edits, and I really appreciate the contributions you're making to Commons. I'm glad you're helping the project! You may wish to consider creating an account. It's quick, free, and anonymous (you don't have to give away any real-world information about yourself).
When you're logged in, you can do many things that unregistered users cannot, such as creating new pages, uploading media content, moving pages and keeping track of changes to articles you edit frequently. It helps the community, too—other users will be more likely to remember who you are when you have an account name. If you want more information on the benefits of creating an account, see this page. And once you've registered, please drop me a message and say hi! Don't forget to sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (or by clicking on the button) ~~~~.

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Hello, Message templates!
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them. Here's how: 1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense: 2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets". When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.
{{subst:please tag images}} |
Please tag your images[edit]
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper. It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template. You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk. Thank you.
{{subst:please name images|File:Example.jpg}} |
Please give images better names[edit]
I noticed you've uploaded File:Example.jpg and I thought I should draw your attention to a common error.
Please give uploaded images meaningful names. Otherwise they are difficult to track and it is hard to tell what the image is about without actually looking at it. I suggest you rename your image with an intuitive name that describes the image itself. Thanks, and happy editing!

{{subst:please describe images|File:Example.jpg}} |
Please give images good descriptions[edit]
I noticed you've uploaded File:Example.jpg and I thought I should draw your attention to a common error.
Please give some thought to writing a good description of uploaded images. This ensures that they can be used. It also helps those that review and improve categories do a better job, which also ensures that images will get used in novel and interesting ways. Thanks, and happy editing!

Archiving this talk page[edit]
Hi! I see that this talk page is becoming quite long. Some old browsers may have problems editing pages approaching or longer than 32kb. Please archive this talk page in accordance with the guidelines laid out here. You can do this automatically with MiszaBot, and to quickly use a standard setup for MiszaBot, simply place {{subst:User:MiszaBot/usertalksetup}} at the top of your user talk page.
Thank you.

[[: ]][edit]Hello! Thank you for uploading [[:{{{1}}}]] to the Wikimedia Commons. I noticed that when you uploaded from another Wikimedia project, you left out some important information, or copied it incorrectly. In the future, please consider using CommonsHelper, a tool which automates the process of moving files over. Thank you, |
Process[edit]
{{subst:dont remove delete}} |
Please do not remove deletion requests[edit]
Please do not remove deletion request tags from images before an administrator has closed the debate. If you do not agree that the image should be deleted, you can express your opinion on the deletion request page. You can find this page via a link in the deletion request tag or at Commons:Deletion requests. Thank you.
|
{{subst:dont remove nsd or nld}} |
Please do not remove problem tags[edit]
Hi! It has come to my attention that you have removed a warning which says that a file doesn't have enough information about the source or license conditions. Nevertheless, it seems to me that this information is still missing and I have restored the tag. You may either add the required information or, if you think that required information is already given, put the image up for a deletion request so that it won't automatically be deleted. Thank you.
|
{{subst:dont remove speedy}} |
Please do not remove speedy deletion tags[edit]
Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from images that you have uploaded yourself. If you do not believe the image deserves to be deleted, then click "Challenge speedy deletion" to convert the tag to a regular deletion request. Thank you.
|
{{subst:dont overwrite}} |
Please do not overwrite files[edit]
I noticed that you uploaded a file using the same name as another file, which already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its previous version. If the file that you attempted to upload is within our project scope and is in the public domain or published under a free license, please upload it again under a different name. Thank you.
For more information, please see Commons:Overwriting files.
|
{{subst:dont recreate|File:Example.jpg}} |
Please do not recreate deleted content[edit]Your image or other content, File:Example.jpg, was recently deleted in accordance with our process and policies. You have recreated this content after it was deleted; please do not do this. If you would like to contest the deletion, please visit Commons:Undeletion requests and follow the instructions there to have the deletion reviewed. Recreating deleted content outside of process is not allowed, and doing so repeatedly may cause you to lose your editing privileges. Thank you for understanding.

{{subst:dont remove warnings}} |
Please do not remove warnings[edit]
Hello. This is a reminder for you that it is important to address the identified issues instead of simply removing legitimate warnings and notices from your talk page. Removing messages does not remove them from the talk page's history. You are encouraged instead to archive past discussions according to our community guidelines. You can have this done automatically for you -- simply place
{{subst:User:Jeff G./usertalksetup}} or {{subst:autoarchive resolved section/usertalksetup}} at the top of your user talk page and then old messages will be archived after 1 month (see User:MiszaBot/usertalksetup for more details).
If you have received warnings for copyright issues, please familiarize yourself with our policy on licensing. You can also ask for help at the village pump or the help desk if you need assistance. |

Behaviour[edit]
{{subst:be civil}} |
Please remain calm and collegial[edit]
It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks!

Please be civil[edit] |
{{subst:dont editwar}} |
Please do not edit war[edit]
You currently appear to be participating in an edit war. Users are expected to collaborate with others, and once it is known that there is a disagreement should discuss the issues on the relevant talk page rather than repeatedly undoing other users’ contributions. If necessary you can ask for more input at Commons:Dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to ask for temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing – even if you are right about the content issue.
